What is PLC ROADM | Planar Lightwave Circuit ROADM

This page explains basics of PLC ROADM used in fiber optical domain. The full form of PLC ROADM is Planar Lightwave Circuit ROADM.

Planar Lightwave Circuit-PLC ROADM

Figure depicts architecture of PLC ROADM based Degree-2 node. Following are the features of PLC type of ROADM:

• It consists of pair of modules consisting of one 'Add module' and one 'Drop module'. Hence there are 2 ADD and 2 DROP modules.

• Uses 40 C band channels with 100 GHz spacing.
