RF Attenuator Pad Calculator

By RF Wireless Expert Team

This page provides information about the RF Pad calculator, including the formulas used.

RF Pad Calculator - π-Type

Inputs

Outputs

The calculator determines resistor values for an attenuator pad configured in a ‘π’ shape.

RF Pad Calculator (PI-Type)

  • Inputs: Impedance = 50 Ω, Attenuation = 3 dB
  • Outputs: R1 = R2 = 16.6 Ω (use a standard 18 Ω resistor), R3 = 66.9 Ω (use a standard 66.5 Ω resistor)

RF Pad Calculator - T-Type

Inputs

Outputs

This calculator computes the resistor values needed for an attenuator pad in a ‘T’ configuration.

RF Pad Calculator (T-Type)

  • Inputs: Impedance = 50 Ω, Attenuation = 9 dB
  • Outputs: R1 = R3 = 64.4 Ω, R2 = 195.43 Ω

Formula/Equation Used in RF Pad Calculator

The following formulas are used in the RF Pad calculators:

rf pad formula

These equations are applicable for both PI and T-shaped RF attenuator pad calculators, as described above.
