LTE Throughput Calculator
Advertisement
This LTE throughput calculator is designed to calculate the throughput as per the 4G LTE standard. It takes into account parameters like MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme), the number of PRBs (Physical Resource Blocks), and the number of MIMO antennas.
LTE Throughput Calculator Example:
- Input: MCS = 10, PRBs = 20, Number of MIMO Antennas = 2
- Outputs: LTE throughput = 6.22 Mbps
LTE Throughput Calculator Formula
The following equation is used for this LTE throughput calculator:

These resources will help you understand the concept of deriving TBS from the entered MCS.
Steps for LTE Throughput Calculation
The following steps are followed in this LTE throughput calculation:
STEP-1: Determine Qm and TBS Index (i.e., ITBS) based on MCS (Modulation Coding Rate). Follow table 7.1.7.1-1 in the TS 36.213 document.
STEP-2: From TBS Index (i.e., ITBS) and N_PRBs, determine TBS (Transport Block Size).
STEP-3: The formula mentioned above is used with the TBS derived in step-2. Follow table 7.1.7.2.1-1 in the TS 36.213 document.
Note: When no MIMO is enabled, there will be a single antenna. For 2x2 MIMO, enter 2, and for 4x4 MIMO, enter 4 as the number of antennas.
