WCDMA DPDCH: Uplink Dedicated Physical Data Channel Explained

The DPDCH channel in WCDMA carries user specific data including user payload and higher layer signaling. Payload consists of voice, video and data. Higher layer signaling includes RRC and NAS messages.

WCDMA uplink DPDCH

Up to six DPDCHs can be configured simultaneously, each with a spreading factor of 4, to support higher data rates.
DPDCH is transmitted in parallel with the DPCCH using I/Q code multiplexing.
