Air filled rectangular waveguide calculator and formula for TE10 mode
Advertisement
An air filled rectangular waveguide calculator is a computational tool used to study electromagnetic wave propagation in rectangular waveguides operating in the dominant TE10 mode. By using the waveguide dimensions and operating frequency, the calculator applies standard waveguide equations to determine important parameters such as cutoff frequency, guide velocity and guide wavelength. This helps in understanding waveguide behavior and in designing microwave and RF transmission systems.
EXAMPLE calculation:
INPUTS:
- Operating Frequency = 3 GHz
- Rectangular Waveguide (L) = 6 cm
- Rectangular Waveguide (W) = 3 cm
OUTPUT:
- Cutoff frequency = 2.5 GHz
- Guide Velocity = 542720420.23 m/s
- Guide Wavelength = 0.18 meter
Note:
- For dominant mode TE10, m = 1 and n = 0 and hence generic equation of waveguide cut-off frequency is reduced to c/(2*broad dimension). Hence rectangular waveguide’s cut-off frequency in dominant mode does not depend on it’s narrow dimension.

Summary:
The rectangular waveguide calculator provides a simple and accurate way to compute cutoff frequency, guide velocity and guide wavelength for TE10 mode using fundamental electromagnetic waveguide formulas.
