analog transmission vs digital transmission

This page on analog transmission vs digital transmission describes difference between analog transmission and digital transmission.

Analog Transmission

In the case of analog transmission data is sent in the analog form. Analog signals/data are represented by sinusoidal waveform. Analog signals are transmitted over long distance compare to digital signals. They are passed through amplifiers to take care of attenuation of the signals through the medium.

Digital Transmission

In the case of digital transmission data is sent in the digital form. Digital signals are represented by digital pulses. Digital signals are also amplified with the use of repeaters to take care of attenuation of the signals.
