LTE RIV Calculator-RB to RIV converter,RIV to RB converter

This page covers LTE RIV calculator. It includes LTE RB to RIV converter and RIV to RB converter. The LTE RIV calculator does conversion of number of RBs and start RB to RIV and vice versa.

LTE Channel Bandwidth(Enter:1.4/3/5/10/15/20MHz):

Start RB (LTE Resource Block) :

Number of allocated RBs (Any number from 2-100) :

LTE RIV value (Output):

NOTE:
➨The above calculator can be used for both the uplink and downlink.
➨Enter Number of allocated RBs from 1 to 100 for the downlink RIV calculation.
➨Enter any number from following array for the uplink RIV calculation.
[2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 25, 27, 30, 32, 36, 40, 45, 48, 50, 54, 60, 64, 72, 75, 80, 81, 90, 96]

LTE RIV Calculator EXAMPLE#1:
INPUTS :
1. LTE Channel Bandwidth = 5 MHz (i.e. Total (NRB)DL = 25 RBs )
2. Start RB = 0
3. Number of continuous allocated RBs = 10
OUTPUT : RIV (Resource Indication Value) = 225

LTE RB to RIV Converter EXAMPLE#2:
INPUTS :
1. LTE Channel Bandwidth = 5 MHz (i.e. Total (NRB)DL = 25 RBs )
2. Start RB = 0
3. Number of continuous allocated RBs = 15
OUTPUT : RIV (Resource Indication Value) = 299

Formula used in LTE RIV Calculator for RB to RIV conversion

Following equations/formula are used in this LTE RIV calculator which helps in RB to RIV conversion and vice versa for both downlink and uplink directions.

LTE RB to RIV conversion formula

Where,
(NRB)DL for downlink = Number of total RBs as per BW
LCRBs = Allocated continuous resource blocks
RBstart = Starting RB
RIV = Resource Indication Value
*Please note calculator automatically takes appropriate (NRB)DL based on channel Bandwidth entered by the user.
(NRB)DL = 6 for 1.4 MHz, 15 for 3 MHz, 25 for 5 MHz, 50 for 10 MHz, 75 for 15 MHz and 100 for 20 MHz.

The RIV stands for Resource Indication Value. In LTE technology, it is the number used to specify PDSCH/PUSCH allocation. It can be used for both downlink type-2 ( DCI formats 1A, 1B, 1D) and uplink type-2.

RIV to RB conversion

• Following steps can be followed for RIV to RB conversion.
• (NRB)DL and RBstart can be calculated from RIV value.
• This is done by applying all possible values of (NRB)DL and RBstart and check whether these values can satisfy any one of the above equations 1 or 2.
• Once it satisfy any one of the equations, the values are taken as appropriate conversion for the entered RIV value.
