Intel Multimode modem | MultiRAT Modem with multimodes from Intel

Jan 1,2014: Recently intel has launched multimode modem supporting multibands and multiple RATs. The XMM™ 7160 platform is used in tablets and ultrabooks. LTE version of Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 is also using this modem. XMM 7160 supports multimode 2G,3G,4G LTE RATs. It has support for 15 LTE bands and is targetted for global roaming across LTE networks. The voice and data applications are supported in this modem.

Following are silent features of Intel multimode modem XMM7160:

•   configurable RF architecture to support multibands
•   envelope tracking & antenna tuning
•   MultiRAT support - 2G (i.e. GSM/EDGE), 3G (i.e. HSPA+),4G LTE
•   4 bands in GSM/EDGE 8 bands in WCDMA, 15 LTE bands and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) supported
•   UE Category 3,Category 4

Intel is planning to launch XMM7260 supporting LTE Advanced feature which covers carrier aggregation, TD-LTE,TD-SCDMA etc.
