Antenna similar to parabolic dish in shape and designed to receive satellite frequency signals is called satellite dish antenna.
Most of the dishes only receive the signals but there are dishes designed for VSAT application and other uses; which can transmit as well as receive the electro magnetic signals.
Dish antenna mainly used as interface between satellite and TV set. Now-a-days it is connected to the Set-Top-Box inside the house using the cable. All the signals which comes to the dish directed to the LNB (Low noise block converter) and inturn gets connected to the TV set via set top box. Set-Top-Box helps select/tune the digital channels as desired by the user.
