C Band Frequency Values | C Band Frequency Advantages,Applications
This page mentions C Band Frequency Values, C Band Frequency Applications and advantages of C Band frequency.
Frequency Band Designation | Frequency Range | Wavelength |
---|---|---|
Generic C Band | 4 to 8 GHz | 7.5 to 3.8 cm |
Extended C Band | Transmit Frequency: 5.85 GHz to 6.425 GHz Receive Frequency: 3.625 GHz to 4.2 GHz |

The C band frequency lies between S Band and X Band as shown in the figure-1 below. As mentioned in the table, it lies from 4 GHz to 8 GHz in the frequency spectrum with wavelengths between 3.8 centimeters to 7.5 centimeters.
C Band Frequency Advantages

Following are the advantages of C Band Frequency over other frequency bands.
➨It has less interference from heavy rain fading.
➨It has cheaper bandwidth compare to other bands.
➨It is widely used for VSAT applications since years and
hence it is easy to install and manage C Band VSAT network. There are many satellites
providing C Band which include Intelsat, INSAT, AsiaSat, Galaxy etc.
C Band Frequency Applications

Following are the applications of C Band Frequency.
• The C-Band is mainly used in satellite communication between Ground station and
satellite. Frequencies from 5.925 to 6.425 GHz are used for uplink direction and
frequencies from 3.7 to 4.2 GHz are used for downlink direction. Here Uplink refers to ground station to satellite and
downlink refers to satellite to ground station.
