Heat Detector basics | Heat Detector types
This article covers heat detector basics and heat detector types. It compares fixed temperature vs rate of rise heat detectors and mentions difference between fixed temperature heat detector and rate of rise type.
Definition: The detector which operates based on detection of heat or temperature is known as
heat detector. Following are the types of heat detectors.
• fixed temperature heat detector
• Rate of rise heat detector
Difference between fixed temperature heat detector and Rate of rise heat detector
Following section describes both of the heat detector types and their basic differences.
➨Fixed temperature heat detector continuously senses the air temperature and
triggers alarm when air temperature exceeds pre-set temperature in the device.
➨Rate of rise heat detector senses rate of rise in the air temperature in the vicinity and triggers
alarm when it goes higher than the pre-set rate with respect to the time factor.
