WiMAX basic capability negotiation-SBC REQ,SBC RSP
This page describes fixed wimax basic capability negotiation outlined between BS and SS as per IEEE 802.16 MAC layer specifications. It mentions wimax SBC REQ and SBC RSP message formats.
The purpose here is that SS informs the BS of its basic capabilities. SBC REQ is transmitted by SS and received by BS. Upon receiving BS responds with SBC RSP message.
The procedure is that:
• After completion of ranging ,the BS will wait for SBC-REQ message transmitted by the SS
• If SBC-REQ message are not received within time set by timer T9 ,
the BS shall release and age out Basic and Primary Management CIDs allocated.
Timer T17 - Time allowed for SS to complete authorization and key exchange.
Timer T9 - registration timeout
