The figure-1 depicts structure of Organic FET (Field Effect Transistor). It has architecture similar to TFT. Here silicon dioxide acts as gate insulator. Active FET layer is formed on this substarte using techniques such as thermal evaporaion, electro-static lamination or coating from organic solution. carrier mobility is the parameter used here as OFET carrier transport.

The figure-2 depicts structure of Organic TFT i.e. Thin Film Transistor.
• Standard TFT is constructedwitha gate(G), insulator, semiconductor and source-drain(S-D) contacts.
• the gate should cover the transistor channel area.
• area is channel length(L) and width(W), W in the Z direction.
• insulator thickness(d) << the channel length(otherwise short channel effects)
• semiconductor should form ohmic contacts to the S-D

The performance of polymer semiconductors have developed to become comperable to the a-Si. Applications where a-Si is used can be made using polymers. Possible applications include smartcards, simple displays, electronic paper etc.
